Selfies at Wendys and Cost Less. Did some serious food shopping at Cost Less. Good thing they had a heavy-duty box ... ! I carried 116.5 pounds of food home on my Surly.

Surly Set-up .....

My Surly Long Haul Trucker, a world-class touring bicycle. I have around 14,000-15,000 miles on my Trucker. Only had one flat in around 7 1/2 years ... !!! Front tire (Schwalbe Marathon Plus) has had no flats yet, but does need to be replaced. Had a flat on the rear tire (Schwalbe Marathon Plus) last year, after around 12,000-13,000 miles.

I removed my Ortlieb Panniers to experiment cycling with a lighter set-up ..... I rigged up a board attached to the rear Surly Nice rack, and secured my Caradice Long Flap Camper Saddlebag. I can carry two gallons of milk inside the main compartment, and other food items. There are two large outside pockets, big enough to carry a one quart juice bottle.

This blog is all about my Surly Long Haul Trucker, a world class touring bicycle ..... I will post pictures and information about the varioius gear and gadgets that I use for cycling. Also, I will post pictures and information about other people's Surly bicycles ..... My cycling theme is "Blue" ... Since I am losing my pigments, I need to cover up all of my skin ... I found two long-sleeved cycling jerseys that have #50 UV protection. I wear knee sleeves over my long socks to give added protection against sunburn.

These pictures show how long my socks really are. Took me awhile to search and find these extra-long socks. I have three pairs of knee sleeves. These Copper Knee Sleeves are the longest, and are very comfortable to wear, even all day long.

After much searching, I decided to get this Boruit RJ-5000 Headlight. I wear this on my head, over my baseball cap, and under my helmet. Just barely fits. This headlight is massive and heavy, but still comfortable to wear, even for many hours. Runs on two 18650 lithium batteries. USB charging port on the battery case, so I can actually charge while wearing. Strap is adjustable, and fits snug. four modes: low, medium, high and strobe. This light is rated at 6000 lumens, but this is false advertising. My guess is this light is around 600 lumens, not even close to 1000 lumens, but still a very good light.
As you can clearly see, this Boruit RJ-5000 Headlamp is huge. I prefer devices that have removable batteries. After much research, I decided to go with a headlamp that uses 18650 lithium batteries, which are powerful.

I really like this Boruit RJ-5000 Headlamp .... I can move my head around to light up wherever I want to see clearly. This headlamp is very bright .... bright enough to see clearly what is ahead, so I can avoid  holes, and other obstacles

Cateye Rapid 5 Tail Light

I attach my Cateye Rapid 5 Tail Light to the rear of my Giro Bicycle Helmet. Fits securely. Runs on two AA batteries. Good run time.
